The ILM Level 3 Certificate in Coaching for Managers and Team Leaders

Coaching is an essential skill for effective leaders. It is fundamental to creating a high performance culture and enthusiastic, committed people.

This practical, 4-day programme will

• Equip leaders with coaching skills which can be used immediately in the context of day to day business
• Provide an understanding of coaching theory and the relationships between coaching, leadership and management
• Enable you to identify and use your own coaching style effectively.

Programme outline

The programme lasts for approximately 10 weeks and consists of

• Four days of workshops
• interim coaching practice sessions at work with candidates' own teams or staff
• Regular telephone check-ins with Tutor and
• Pre and Post programme 1:1 with Tutor.

Workshop 0ne (two days) - developing a learning community and coaching relationships - coaching models, definition, theory and application - 'Inner Game' philosophy - listening skills/questioning skills - leadership, management and coaching - group coaching practice and feedback

Workshop Two (one day) - review of learning and interim coaching practice - problem solving model - distinguishing team building from team coaching - team coaching/group dynamics - group facilitation techniques - coaching practice

Workshop Three (one day) - review of learning and interim coaching practice - counseling/mentoring and coaching - organisational context - team coaching practice - outstanding issues - developing coaching and team culture across the organisation - maintaining standards - continuing professional development

Each programme is led by our fully qualified coaches who have years of experience of coaching for performance at work.

Candidates and their coachee(s) will evaluate each practice session. The evaluation sheets form part of the portfolio of evidence required. In addition candidates must complete a book review and a short work based assignment. The portfolio will be discussed with the Tutor before being submitted to the ILM as evidence of successful completion of the programme.
